The National Emblem of the Republic of Bangladesh. The national flower Shapla (water lily) is surrounded by two sheaves of rice and the water lily is representative of the many rivers that run through Bangladesh. Above the water lily are four stars and a three jute leaves. The connection between a part of the health problem in Bangladesh and their national emblem is their heavy dependence on rice and the reliance they have on it to be the primary source of food for their country.
A statue of Lady Justice was removed from the supreme court building in the Bangladeshi capital after objections from Islamist groups. The sculpture, by the local artist Mrinal Haque, was installed in front of the court in December, and depicts a woman in a sari clutching a sword and scales. Considering that the one of the main groups of people sacrificing their well-being for the children of Bangladesh are women, the country took this as a big slap in the face when the statue was removed. The country was headed in a positive direction with this statue as it symbolized the strong women in this country.
